Meet Our Animals: Mando

Hello! My name is Mando (after the Mandalorian) and I am a Black Sex-Link Chicken. You may think I’m all black in color, but when the sunlight hits just right, my feathers shimmer in shades of purple, blue, and green! I share my coop with a Silkie Chicken named Nugget.

Color: Black with purple, blue and green shimmer

Sex-link Chickens:

• Are a result of crossing a barred hen with a non-barred rooster. A common cross is a Barred Plymouth Rock hen mated with a Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire rooster.
• Are great layers!
• Sex-link chicks that are female are solid black and the males are black with a white dot on their heads.
